Q: Why does water leak below ground around my hydrant 
A: If you are having an issue with a puddle forming around the base of your hydrant this most likely means that the plunger has gone bad. When the rubber goes bad, or breaks apart it allows water to bypass the seal, and constantly leak through the weep hole in the side of the valve body. To remedy this issue you would have to replace the plunger in the hydrant.
